1) Planners get initialled or signed when possible.
2) Green MATH duo-tang: Green duo-tangs will be going home occasionally.
We are currently working on data and graphing. Our next unit will be multiplication and division. Some concepts will be new and families are encouraged to work through some concepts at home.
Students will be doing 10-15 minutes of math practice drills on Mondays and that work will be sent home in their red duo-tangs. Students can use IXL using their student log-in information.
Students will be having quizzes every second Friday. The next math quiz - TBD.
3) Red LANGUAGE ARTS duo-tang. Our spelling program this year is called Words Their Way (WTW). We will be having spelling tests every second Friday. It is encouraged that families support students by practicing at home when possible. Student's have red duo-tangs that will house their list words. The current list will be sent home in student planners. WTW list tests occur ever second Friday.
It is recommended students read 15-20 minutes each night. Selecting an appropriate book is a class focus for the first month. Make sure your young reader is able to read a full page without struggling with more than 5 words.
4) Yellow SCIENCE duo-tang- our current topic is: TBD. Our next unit will be on TBD. Please email me if you have any questions about our learning.
5) Grey SOCIAL STUDIES duo-tang- our yearly focus of current events includes occasionally reading the news paper and reviewing relevant current events. Our year long area of focus in Social Studies is First Nations connection to the environment. Our current topic is: Canada. Our next unit will be on First Peoples shared aspects of life.
6) Technology- Our class will be integrating technology this year. Students will have access to shared SES devices including laptops and iPads. Our first topic will be signing in and out of on-line resources. Next, we will be covering 'how to be internet safe'. Feel free to inquiry if you have any questions about how we are using technology.
